Pinedrops (Pterospora andromedea)
The entire plant is edible, either cooked or raw. It has astringent/anti-inflammatory
and disinfectant properties, and helps to reduce fevers by promoting perspiration.
Like the coral-root orchid, it doesn't produce chlorophyll; therefore, it can't do
photosynthesis. It gets its nutrients from living and non-living organisms in the soil.
Several states have placed it in the list of endangered species, but not Colorado.
