Water Lily, Yellow (Nuphar lutea polysepala)

It has astringent and narcotic properties. The flowers are used
to treat insomnia and anxiety. Boil 1 part of water lily plant with
10 parts of water for about 20 minutes to prepare an infusion.
Out of which, two or three tablespoons can be ingested 3 times
a day between meals. Do not use in excess because it will affect
the neurological system in unhealthy manners. The leaves can be
added to stews as a condiment; however, we don't recommend
this plant as food, or to ingest it raw as a medicine.
Perishable food items will be able to keep longer when wrapped
in water lily leaves, burrito style; however, they are not like tortillas,
chapatis, or rotis (do not eat!). A poultice can be used for external
purposes on sores, bruises, and superficial wounds. It can also be
applied to oily skin that needs improvement.
