Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium)

Its chemical achilleine reduces the clotting time of blood. Therefore, it has been used for
millennia in the treatment of open wounds to prevent hemorrhaging. A tea made with the
leaves, stems, and/or flowers can be used externally to soak on a clean piece of cloth and
apply to burns, pimples, sore eyes, and insect bites. Internally, the tea can be used to treat
diarrhea and fevers. Another chemical in the plant, salicylic acid, helps to reduce pain,
relieve anxiety and insomnia. It might have anti-inflammatory properties and help to fight
infections. It is an astringent.
