Aspen Tree (Populus tremuloides)

It contains salicin, which, metabolized by the body, becomes salicylic acid--a quinine substitute, component
of aspirin; therefore, it can be used as a pain killer, sedative, fever reducer, and anti-inflammatory (other
poplar trees, willows, unripe fruits and vegetables are natural sources of salicin as well). A tea made with the
bark can be soaked in cotton balls and used as an anti-acne treatment, and in the treatment of calluses and
warts. The bark is resistant to flame (it burns, but it takes longer than other types of wood to catch the flame).
