Boletus edulis/King Bolete
The entire fungus is edible; however, especial care should be taken regarding the
inhalation of the spores because they can produce respiratory diseases and allergies
(advice applicable to the handling of all mushrooms). It can be eaten raw, but the
best way is to sauté it, after having cut it into slices. If oil/fat/butter is not available,
it can be boiled.
Like most mushrooms, it contains significant amounts of essential amino, and fatty
acids (like omega-3 and omega-6 EFAs); vitamins (B complex and C); and minerals
(whose type varies depending on the soil it grows).
It can be used to reduce pain and improve blood circulation in the extremities. It
also stimulates the immune system in a positive manner, making it a desirable aid
in the treatment of tumors, both benign and malign.
