Common Fireweed (Chamerion angustifolium)
Its stems, leaves, and flowers are edible raw or cooked. The flowers are used to make jelly, jam,
and syrup. Tea made from the leaves is used for stomach aches and for anxiety. The leaves, when
young, make palatable salads. Eating or drinking too much may produce drowsiness. Unlike arnica,
the chopped leaves and/or stems can be applied directly to open wounds--it will help to get rid of
the pus. It can also be used for pain and swelling, fevers, and tumors. It is an astringent and tonic.
