Flodmans thistle (Cirsium flodmanii)
It is a North America native. The roots, stems, and leaves are edible after getting rid
of the spines. We recommend to boil them first.
It is sometimes confused with arvense; however, flodmanii's flower heads are much
bigger and truly spiny, their bracts are marked with tiny vertical white lines, and their
stems are covered by a white, velvet-looking layer.
