Sagebrush Buttercup (Ranunculus glaberrimus)

Together with Pasque flower, it is one of the first plants to bloom in the Spring;
and, as Pasque flower, it is toxic if ingested; some people have developed skin
problems just by handling it. However, it provides a magnificent view: a yellow
and green carpet contrasted by the surrounding old brown plants and melting
white snow.
Its petals are shiny, bright yellow, which turn to white little by little with time.
There are many varieties of buttercups, all of them toxic. Sagebrush buttercups,
however, can be recognized easily because they grow both single and divided
leaves in the the same plant and they are the first ones to bloom after Winter.
